Project Young Environmental Sustainability Actors
Through this project, young people can truly learn that they have the power to change the world, one sustainable action at a time.
In today’s world, environmental sustainability has become a crucial issue, impacting every corner of the globe and affecting the well-being of all living things. Rapid changes in climate, loss of biodiversity, pollution, and unsustainable resource use threaten our planet and future. These challenges underscore the need for education, particularly among young people, to inspire a generation ready to take meaningful action for a sustainable future.
Project Goals
Our Young Environmental Sustainability Actors (YES Actors) Project is designed to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to make positive environmental changes. This project aims to create a hands-on learning experience where young participants can explore concepts such as ecosystem preservation, climate change, sustainable living practices, and environmental justice. Through interactive activities, community engagement, and mentorship, young people will develop a deeper understanding of their role as stewards of the earth.
In cooperation with our partner, Green Mind International Academy, we aim to foster a deeper connection to nature and a clearer understanding of environmental issues.
This project will help young people become proactive and informed citizens who contribute to the health of our planet.
We aim to plant the seeds of environmental consciousness and responsibility, creating a foundation for a more sustainable and resilient future.
Through this project, young people can truly learn that they have the power to change the world, one sustainable action at a time.
Project Activities
YES Actors project, implemented in three phases, will feature sensitization, education and training sessions on various environmental topics in selected secondary schools in Ibadan, Nigeria.
This phase will be followed by a YES camping experience during which the theoretical teachings of the previous phase will be brought to life.
During the project’s final phase, selected students will embark on a 5-day life-changing trip to Hamburg, Germany, where they will be exposed to learning and educational opportunities and resources to further their education and be part of global solutions to environmental issues. The students will be able to engage & exchange with young people at the International Sustainability Academy (ISA), Hamburg.
This project is co-funded by the Norddeutsche Stiftung für Umwelt und Entwicklung.
